A Midsummer Night's Dream: Women In Elizabethian England
Number of words: 317 - Number of pages: 2.... her being. No mention
is made of Hermia's mother. It seemed to be the view at this time that men were
wholly responsible for the creation of children and woman were just a vessel for
the birthing. Which is curious because one would expect woman to hold a higher
place for giving birth to children, the lifeline to the future.
During the Shakespearean era woman were seen as second class citizens.
Although the start of marriage for love was just beginning, woman were still
expected to do what males told them. In addition, they were seen as a mere
vessel for birth and did not play an integ .....

Macbeth: A Tale Of Two Theories
Number of words: 741 - Number of pages: 3.... of Duncan, Macbeth
first states,"We will proceed no further in this business"(I.vii.32). Yet,
after speaking with Lady Macbeth he recants and proclaims,"I am settled, and
bend up/Each corporal agent to this terrible feat"(I.vii.7980). There is
nothing supernatural to be found in a man being swayed by the woman he loves,
as a matter of fact this action could be perceived as quite the opposite.
Second, the witches have to be dispelled as a source of Macbeth's misfortune
before the latter theory can be considered. It is admittedly strange that the
weird sisters first address Macbeth with,"All .....

Nell
Number of words: 644 - Number of pages: 3.... wrong. The speech that Nell
gave in the courtroom proved that she had developed intellectually. While the
language that she used was different, Nell still gave a good list of very
abstract ideas that someone who is mentally retarded could not possibly
comprehend. Nell understood why she was different saying that she was raised in
a small world and knew small things unlike the large things found in the city of
Charlotte, N.C. This proved that Nell was very capable of living by herself and
taking care of herself.
3) The experts, in the beginning of the movie, said that Nell was not

men say we be men of good government, being governed as the sea is, by our novle
and chaste mistress the moon, under whose countenance we steal” (I, ii, 25-30).
