.... note to keep in mind while reading "The Trial" is Kafka's structural organization of paragraphs. Most of the paragraphs are confusing and lengthy; some even more than one or two pages long. In chapter two when Joseph is speaking at the Court of Inquiry, he is abruptly interrupted by the shrieks of a woman. Kafka explains the scene in almost two pages, paying extreme attention to detail. Most of his descriptions seem unnecessary, redundant, and quite confusing. At one point he is describing the scene of one part of the room, then Kafka describes a revelation, which occurs to Joseph .....

.... is heavily depended upon exaggeration; but it also introduces the contrasting device of understatement whereby something is declared by stating the negative of its opposite. In relation to it is euphemism, which it is used ironically with fine comic effect to advance the satire of injustice, crime, and folly. Caricature and parody, ways in which the author exaggerated details of one sort or another for the same purpose, are noticed evidently in the story. For instance, the old woman’s story about how she became a servant in which she journeyed through hardships of her life by pleas .....

Despite his popularity among the crew and his hardworking attitude, Billy is transferred to another British ship, the Indomitable. .... Pauline Breedlove and are all embodiments of this quest for identity, as well as symbols of the quest of many of the Black northern newcomers of that time. The Breedlove family is a group of people under the same roof, a family by name only. Cholly (the father) is a constantly drunk and abusive man. His abusive manner is apparent towards his wife Pauline physically and towards his daughter Pecola sexually. Pauline is a "mammy" to a white family and continues to favor them over her biological family. Pecola is a little black girl with low self esteem. The world has led her to believe that she .....

.... Of Two Cities to describe Dr. Manette's escape from sure death in the Bastille. Dr. Manette's story begins when he is imprisoned unjustly for eighteen years. The solitary time spent in the prison waiting for his certain death is so excruciating it makes Manette go insane. When Dr. Manette is finally released he does not even know his own name: "one hundred and five north tower" (Dickens p 37) is all he says when asked. Mr. Lorry and Lucie Manette have the emotional stressful task of restoring Dr. Manette back to health: "to restore him to life, love, duty, rest, comfort" (Dickens p 22). .....

.... is Snowball. Snowball believed one hundred percent in Old Majors ideals. He wanted all the things Old Major wanted, such as the welfare of the animals. In the Russian Revolution his counterpart would be Trotsky. Trotsky believed and wanted the same things as Lenin, and wanted to continue what Lenin had started. Then comes Napoleon. Napoleon was selfish and greedy. He did not want to share the power or the decision making with any other individual. This was the same for Stalin. At first Napoleon and Snowball shared the decision making and had debates about what course of action they would .....

.... He is a languid protagonist and has a tendency to get arrested and must be bailed out several times during the story. Dr. Alexander Manette, a veteran prisoner of the Bastille, cannot escape the memory of being held and sometimes relapses to cobbling shoes. Dr. Manette's daughter, Lucie Manette is loved by many and marries Charles Darnay. One who never forgot his love for Lucie, Sydney Carton, changed predominately during the course of the novel. Sydney, a look-alike of Charles Darnay, was introduced as a frustrated, immature alcoholic, but in the end, made the ultimate sacrifice for a g .....

.... the rain soaking wet, he is sure he is going to catch pneumonia. But before he leaves this world he wants to visit his little sister, Phoebe, to say good bye. He admires her a lot and they communicate very well. Holden realises that there are things he cannot solve by him self, and decides to rejoin his family. The style of the book is very unusual because it is told by a sixteen-year-old boy. It can give you some problems because some of the things he tells about and observe might not be true, but extremely exaggerated. We are not even sure that he is mentally stabile since the writer of the .....

.... until they found they were in love with their enemy. The theme of teenage rebellion becomes an issue at this point. Romeo and Juliet love each other but this love is rejected throughout their families being both their families have had a grudge carried out from their ancestors. The only way for Romeo and Juliet to have a relationship is to keep it away from their families finding out. After only knowing each other for a few hours, Romeo proposed his love to Juliet. They made plans to get married the next day. Following their marriage, another character named Tybalt is attempting to fight .....
