.... dissatisfaction with life and his sexual frustration lead him to the wrong conclusion. That he still thinks that he can get away with this and that the thought police will never catch him. This is where Winston unconsciously seals his fate of being caught but he feels the adventure is well worth the risk. Later in the relationship, they both are aware that the end to them is near. There were a couple of things that Winston owned that were deemed illegal but ironically the glass paperweight seemed to be the most important. First of all, the paperweight serves no purpose in the world that Win .....

Dimmesdale's interpretation of his sin is much more severe than Hester's, it is a breach and direct contradiction of his own self consciousness and physical existence. Therefore the appearance of his A, even though it is never directly described in the novel, must be raw, jagged, and brutally crooked (...a ghastly rapture; pg.95). Maybe Dimmesdale's self torture is so horrifying or inconceivable that it is either indescribable, (...too mighty to be expressed only by the eye of his f .....

.... was a special place. It was a shrine where the archbishop Thomas A. Becket was murdered in 1170. This was the pilgrimage the twenty nine characters would make. They would start at the Tabard Inn in Southwark, which is near London. The characters in this story tell the stories themselves. This style of writing is called framework. There are twenty-four different stories told by the characters who interact with each other throughout the entire tale. The stories are mostly old familiar ones revamped and retold with the Chaucer style. Most of the stories relate some kind of moral lesson .....

Also there with Governor Bellingham are Pastor Wilson, Reverend Dimmesdale and Roger Chillingworth. After Mr. Wilson asks Pearl a few questions, the Governor decides that Hester is unfit as a mother and that the child would be better off in the hands of the church. Hester begs Dimmesdale, whom she says knows everything about her and has charge of her soul, to speak for her. Therefore, he does, convincing the Governor to let .....

Sara swims against this current in the river of Victorian society and in return she is ostracized. Men also have predetermined roles; this is evident today in the stereotypes created for men by what they wear and by their interests. By entering into a category, you are somehow expressing your individuality. In reality, a person is giving up their individual freedom and fitting right into a stereotype that contains its own rules .....
