.... Perception can be defined as the way one views their surroundings as well as themselves and others. The relatively stable set of perceptions individuals hold about themselves is their self-concept. Now that some of the terminology was discussed about interpersonal communication I will show some examples by using characters in a movie. The movie "The Breakfast Club" was a great movie to see how people communicate with one another. Each individual in the movie appeared to be quite different but by the end they were all really not that different. In fact, they were pretty much the same, .....

Moving to London, he becomes uncommon, but also loses his natural goodness. Paying his financial debts and living abroad after losing his “great expectations,” he regains his goodness, or at least pays for his sins, and can finally return to his childhood home. His physical traveling reflects his mental and emotional journeys. Only when he returns to his childhood place and childhood goodness can he begin to look for happiness again. In contrast, the .....

.... about. Imagine watching a monster eat your friends, and then come after you. “Forward Grendel came, stepping nearer. Then he reached for Beowulf. Beowulf grasped his arm and sat up. The criminal knew he had not met in this middle-earth another with such a grip”(ch. 4). At this point Grendel was afraid of who this man was. Just the courage not to run away, but to fight the beast, Beowulf proved himself to be a courageous man. Another trait that comes with courage is being noble. To be noble, one has to take risks on his own behalf to save the suffrage of others, because he wants .....

.... this poem are so graphic that it could make readers feel sick. For example, in these lines: "If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood/ Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs/ Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud,"(21-23) shows us that so many men were brutally killed during this war. Also, when the gas bomb was dropped, "[s]omeone still yelling out and stumbling/ [a]nd flound'ring like a man in fire or lime.../ [h]e plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning."(11-12,16) These compelling lines indicate that men drowned helplessly in the toxic gasses. Even though he is oblivious to the reasons for their behavior, he blindly continues on the path the strangers warned him not to go on. The lieutenant orders his men to lie down on the ground to avoid the lightning. The men try to control their fear as the storm breaks on them, but despite the lieutenant’s efforts to keep the men calm and low to the ground one man decides to run. Soon the man is nothing more than black charred remains. At first this seems like a terrible and singular event, but as the story progresses we realize this is a daily occurrence on Venus. .....

Odysseus also neglects other people's lives when he takes action; such as when he tried to fight Scylla after strictly being told not to. Because of this ignorant action, he lost three more men on top of the other six. He also sacrificed men when he waited at the Cyclops' home for "gifts." Odysseus was very self-centered where real heroes are not. Odysseus also lacks the part of the hero profile which includes having a good heart. Odysseus definitely does not have this .....

Bringing fear to Connie's eyes, Arnold states, "I know your name and all about you, lot's of things" (597), truly proving his demented intentions. Recalling seeing Connie at the drive in, Arnold states, "seen you that night and thought, that's the one, yes sir" (601), divulging his true obsession with Connie. If not a victim of assault or rape, the women find themselves searching for the comfort of a man. Oates views life as a never ending struggle which leads her to convey similar themes to her readers.
