Term Papers on Legal and Government |
Voting
Number of words: 276 - Number of pages: 2.... votes neither democratic nor republican, they vote for both.
What I mean by that is that they vote for the best candidate who they think will
get the job done. So they would be considered non-partisan. They go about
picking the candidate based on the qualities of honesty, character, and what the
candidate has accomplished in the past.
There wasn't a basic consensus on the issues they thought were most
important, but there issues they thought were most important, but there issues
all dealt with money. For example my mom thought that federal and state
government needs to be downside and progr .....

Opinion On The Death Penalty
Number of words: 1001 - Number of pages: 4.... we do not
rape the rapist's daughter; we do not kidnap the kidnapper's children; but if
the death penalty were permitted, we would " kill the killer". So why, as
educated citizens, would we want to lower ourselves to this level? Do we feel
that we need to show the power of the police force by killing the killers? The
death penalty is extremely barbaric and is often botched in order to let the
accused suffer for several minutes. Society by now must realize that two wrongs
certainly do not make a right. You do not show society anything, by killing the
killers, except your ignorance f .....

Drink Up - Drunk Driving Should Be Legalized
Number of words: 360 - Number of pages: 2.... choose not to drink. Currently people who have been
drinking are legally required to use some form of transportation other than
them operating a motor vehicle. This requires them to hang around where
they are and get a ride with someone else or wait or some public
transportation. With the legalization of driving while drunk the non-
drinking population would not need to be bothered by drunk people that do
not have rides. Finally, this would help stimulate the economy which may
be in dire trouble. For example, with the removal of restrictions on
alcohol, many more alcoholic beverages wou .....

Hidden Politics
Number of words: 1484 - Number of pages: 6.... One of many instances depicting this occurred at the Dedalus' Christmas dinner, in an argument involving Dante Rioridan, Stephen's great-aunt, and Mr. Casey, a friend of the family.
---And can we not love our country then? asked Mr. Casey. Are we not to follow the man [Parnell] who was born to lead us?
---A traitor to his country! replied Dante…The priests were right to abandon him. The priests were always the true friends of Ireland. (201)
As seen, Mr. Casey first links national fervor to politics with the rationale .....

Failure Of Gun Control Laws
Number of words: 1567 - Number of pages: 6.... new world were used initially
for hunting, and occasionally for self-defense. However, when the colonists
felt that the burden of British oppression was too much for them to bear,
they picked up their personal firearms and went to war. Standing against
the British armies, these rebels found themselves opposed by the greatest
military force in the world at that time. The 18th century witnessed the
height of the British Empire, but the rough band of colonial freedom
fighters discovered the power of the Minuteman, the average American gun
owner. These Minutemen, so named because they would pick .....

Gun Control - A Firing Issue
Number of words: 1334 - Number of pages: 5.... right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.†The forefathers of our country meant for the people to own and use firearms, and any law or control on that right would be unconstitutional. Gun control activists essentially believe the Second Amendment guarantees only to its militia the right of arms, but the “Gun control proponents have yet to identify even a single quote from one of the founders to support their claim†(Silver 78). The 2nd Amendment supports gun owners, and hard evidence that it does otherwise is nonexistent.
Gun control advocates h .....

Addiction Treatment
Number of words: 834 - Number of pages: 4.... the reliability and validity of the journal articles selected for the study. One important factor for the operational definition will be what questions the articles ask and how well the findings they produce would support or not support my hypothesis. In fact, I used only studies that mentioned a relation in patient success or outcome and length of treatment, regardless of whether the outcome; or dependent variable, was positive or negative. There are other factors that have to be considered as variables and how they might influence the outcome of a clients treatment, ie; motivation for tre .....

Ebonics Is Not The Answer
Number of words: 1827 - Number of pages: 7.... linguistic proficiency. Attitudes toward the vernacular dialect may well have to be overhauled, and some fairly extensive linguistic training will need to occur. Teachers will need to know how to weave dialect instruction into reading, writing, and oral language development in order to connect it to real communicative functions. Society has a clear vested interest in educating its youth. In his most famous decision, Chief Justice Earl Warren wrote in Brown vs. Board of Education "Education is perhaps the most important function of state and local governments... In these days, it is dou .....

Democracy History
Number of words: 969 - Number of pages: 4.... produce a government that passes laws for the benefit of the few. Therefore, an advantage for democracy is that the supreme power is vested in the people and will satisfy the interest of the people. The rule of the many will create a government that legislates on behalf of the majority. In other words, those people who hold political power cannot use it for their own benefit. Another argument in favour of democracy emphasizes its ability to safeguard individual liberties. Free competition among political parties provides a check against possible governmental tyranny and oppression, just as p .....

Legalization Of Marijuana
Number of words: 871 - Number of pages: 4.... crime will result in an increase in drug-related crimes.
Meanwhile, the black market would disappear overnight. Some arrangement would be made to license the production of marijuana cigarettes. The untold multitudes of dealers would be put out of business, and a major source of financial loss to the economy would become one of financial gain. It is difficult to say what effect this change alone would have on crime, however, since criminals would probably continue to sell other off the point . But it would definitely have an impact on the amount of money flowing through criminal channel .....
