Legalization Of Marijuana
Number of words: 1315 - Number of pages: 5.... society. Not society, but your specific and immediate society. What does it consist of? Whom does it consist of? Immediate answers might be school, neighborhood, church, work, town, and family. In other words, we can define it as your community. Your community is your society, now exclusive of your friends and others you consider to be in your peer group who may actually encourage certain types of "Immoral" behavior. Who in your community would sit back and let you abuse your body and mind with excessive drug use? Schools would suspend; families could react with everything from tough love .....

Robert Mapplethorpe And Obscenity Charges
Number of words: 1005 - Number of pages: 4.... presidency. Some of its decisions have been controversial. For example, it subsidized an exhibit of menstrual blood, clothing made of condoms, and a depiction of Jesus Christ as a drug addict and sex object.
In 1990, after the NEA helped fund Robert Mapplethorpe's ''homoerotic'' photos and Andrew Serrano's crucifix in a jar of urine, Congress took action.
It passed a bill requiring the NEA to consider ''general standards of decency and respect for the diverse beliefs and values of the American public,'' as well as artistic excellence, in awarding grants.
Some NEA supporters objected .....

Landmark Supreme Court Decisions
Number of words: 1012 - Number of pages: 4.... Des Moines Independent School District.
From the case of Tinker v. Des Moines Ind. School Board obviously came
some conflicting viewpoints about the armbands. The school board said that no
one has the absolute right to freedom of expression, where the Tinkers said that
only banning armbands and not other political symbols was unconstitutional. The
school board said that the armbands were disruptive to the learning environment,
where the Tinkers said they were not. Finally, the school board said that order
in the classroom, where political controversy should be discussed, is entitled

Constitutional Convention: Day By Day Occurrences
Number of words: 1791 - Number of pages: 7.... of my personal goals of this convention
is to talk freely with Ben Franklin about his ideas about government. Mr.
Franklin has traveled widely and has seen many nations. He is old and wise
and I want to talk to him before he passes away. Right now he is at the
age of 81, I think.
May 31
Recently the convention has become vexatious. The summers in this
towne are very humid. We are forced to keep the window open everywhere.
Flies are about at all times and it is hard to concentrate. Also, some of
the discussions at this convention are sluggish and tiresome.
One good thin .....

Should Children Be Allowed To Testify In Court?
Number of words: 2242 - Number of pages: 9.... than adults” (Ceci & Bruck 1993). The suggestibility of child witnesses,
the effects of participation on children's reports, and the effects of postevent
information on a prior memory representation must be taken into account when it
comes to seeking answers to the reliability of their testimony, especially
because sexual abuse and sexual assault cases are a big part of children's
testimony and they are often the only witness.
Those psychologists who feel that children can be rated as “Highly
resistant to suggestion....” etc. seem to have a good argument, whereas those
who take the .....

The Caning Punishment Issue
Number of words: 377 - Number of pages: 2.... for his pains. This would be a little bit of
vengeance for the victim. As a victim this might not set it right but it
would help them feel a little better. This would also make a very big
impression on me. If I knew I could get a very bad lashing for doing
something wrong, I would not do it. With the growing crime rate some
different actions have to be taken. What we are doing now is not working
very well. Corporeal punishment seems like a good place to start. It is
a deterrent step which we could take without expanding the use of the death
penalty.
Corporeal punishment inst .....

Our Court System Is Inefficient
Number of words: 849 - Number of pages: 4.... general atmosphere and behaviour in the Provincial Courtrooms were general loose and calm. The people, lawyers, judge, clerk and recorder seem to know each other very well. They joked openly, even while the court was in session, the defence lawyer asked if he could persuade the judge into a lighter sentence after the judge had already made a decision in a very easy and friendly tone of voice, something seemly unprofessional that caused chuckles throughout the courtroom. Where in the Ontario Supreme Court the atmosphere was much more serious, professional, strict and at times hig .....

strict and control their children because, as the ministers believe,
parents are the key to reforming youngsters' behaviour. And that has to be
done before they grow up, because there will be no conrolling them then.So
no more anonymity, and no more "Blitz Boy" kind of nicknames which only
glorify the young troublemakers and make them look like heroes, but full

dare doing something that will result in that. Because a thing like that

Illegal Immigration
Number of words: 676 - Number of pages: 3.... source),
Americans are firmly believe in tough laws against illegal immigrants and that
70% of Americans want no more than 300,000 legal immigrants to enter the U.S.
per year. In fact, N.P.G. says that 20% of Americans want immigration
completely stopped. Taking these numbers as the truth, it is clear that America
thinks that we have too many immigrants.
Such a dislike of immigration is interesting considering the success of
past immigration. Many people would say that today's immigrants are somehow
different than those of the past. However, the truth is that the
similarities be .....
