In 1963, another case was brought before the court dealing with school prayer, Abington School District v. The Drinking Age
Number of words: 1276 - Number of pages: 5.... should have been left up to the state governments instead of the federal government. “The federal government has been suspected of threatening to stop federal funding for the states highway systems if they did not comply with the proposed uniformed drinking age.” Many feel that as a result of this the states were pressured into their decision of raising the age limit.

Governement's Bureaucratic Half-Witted Laws
Number of words: 1532 - Number of pages: 6.... so it passed the "no driving while blindfold" law. Alabama is not the
only state with laws that seem useless. In California community leaders
passed an ordinance that makes it illegal for anyone to try to stop a child
from playfully jumping over puddles of water. The fine for such a crime is
fifty dollars and up to ten days in jail. Once again a government decided it
didn't have enough power and thought that it might as well impose a new law to
show its "immense" power over the people.
In Connecticut you can be stopped be the police for bike riding over
sixty-five miles an hour. You .....

The Death Penalty: For The Common Good
Number of words: 439 - Number of pages: 2.... and punishment. Are police officers wrong for
speeding to enforce the speeding laws? No. They also say that we should
value all human life. Even the most despicable. It is because we value
human life so much that we put such a terrible consequence for taking it.
One argument states that the death penalty does not deter people
from murdering. To abolish capital punishment on this basis would be way
off base. You would also have to get rid of prisons because they do not
keep people from committing crimes also. Texas A&M University collected
data and the results are horrifying. .....

Australians Against Further Immigration
Number of words: 2205 - Number of pages: 9.... debate to one of
race and emotion is a deliberate ploy to silence critics and avoid the real
issues. We believe in freedom of speech. The philosopher Spinoza said, “In a
free state every man can think what he wants and say what he thinks”. This
should apply here to debates on immigration.
We care about Australia and want to pass our heritage to our children and their
children. We want to preserve our Australian identity. We stress that migrants
already in Australia are welcome, what we are against is further immigration and
the effect this in now having on social harmony.
Our op .....

How The Simpsons Affects Kids
Number of words: 2512 - Number of pages: 10.... Groening presented Brooks with an overweight, balding father, a mother with a blue beehive hairdo, and three obnoxious spiky haired children. Groening intended for them to represent the typical American family "who love each other and drive each other crazy". Groening named the characters after his own family. His parents were named Homer and Margaret and he had two younger sisters named Lisa and Maggie. Bart was an anagram for "brat". Groening chose the last name "Simpson" to sound like the typical American family name. (Varhola, 2)

Sexual Pressures
Number of words: 851 - Number of pages: 4.... far less pressured and influenced about sex. In fact they are far less likely to be sexually active than teen females who do not participate in sports. I believe that all teens in general should know the results of being a sexually active teen. There are many consequences of being sexually active, one of the major one being sexually transmitted diseases. A sexually transmitted disease might not sound so bad but, some can cause sterility and even worse , death. Even when condoms are used, a STD can still be transmitted. Depending on the type of std they can or can not be cured. A few diseases .....

Imperialism: A State Of Powerlessness
Number of words: 818 - Number of pages: 3.... casualties in India before the British attacked from Great Britain. The British in India know that they will suffer if they push the Indians too far. This fact is why the British do not do anything when the Indians harass them. Orwell’s lack of power, as an authority figure, is seen when he says, “When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee (another Burman) looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter”. He can do nothing about the Burmans harassment. He also says the Burmans laugh and “jeer” at him all day long. He can do nothing be .....

the executive director of the Montgomery based Equal Justice Initiative, has
stated that “…people are increasingly realizing that the more we resort to
killing as a legitimate response to our frustration and anger with violence, the
more violent our society becomes…We could execute all three thousand people on
death row, and most people would not feel any safer tomorrow.”(Frame 51) In
