Marijuana Abuse
Number of words: 1197 - Number of pages: 5.... in the 1960s marijuana use saw a reemergence with the rebellious youth, and the "hippie movement." This evolved into increased use among the older population as well. This trend continues to this day. Marijuana use can be termed abuse. Today the debate over marijuana is a major controversy that affects our society as a whole. During the 60's it was easy to depict marijuana as a beneficial and completely harmless substance because there was not enough scientific research done during this time (Grolier Wellness Encyclopedia). Today we know that the levels of THC, the psychoactive component o .....

Gender Socialization
Number of words: 1799 - Number of pages: 7.... blue and baby girl pink to help identify the sex of a child. Heaven forbid the little Joey looks like a girl or b aby Michelle is mistaken for a boy. Mothers and fathers make it easy for everyone to distinguish their bundle of joy by utilizing the socially established gender stereotypes. But where and how did these stereotypes come from? Unfortunately, I don't think there is a definite answer to that question. We seem to accept that blue is for boys and pink is for girls. Boys generally play with balls, toy trucks and building blocks whereas girls spend their time with dolls, tea sets and s .....

One Man, One Vote?
Number of words: 652 - Number of pages: 3.... to decide who know what
about the running candidates and issues that are being addressed. They would
have to give some kind of multiple-choice question test that you had to fill out
while voting. It would take a long time for each person to vote and I think that
would make people less encouraged to come and vote. Since the only way to link a
vote with a test is to have them on the same paper the voters would have to take
a test every time they voted. Most people want to walk in, vote, and walk out.
They don't want to fill out a test asking them about what they know. For the
people who don't .....

Affirmative Action
Number of words: 1237 - Number of pages: 5.... skin. Since he is Asian, they could not hire him, because 50%
of their employees are Asian. Under the affirmative action, they must
employ someone who is underrepresented. This type of situation happens
often. It is not the qualifications, but the color of the skin that
employers look for today. Affirmative action is a step backwards. We are
back to color and race differences. We are all Americans and should be
treated as so, not what ethnicity we are. Affirmative action should be
abolished solely because we do not want to make the same mistake our
society made in the past --- discrim .....

Capital Punishment Deters Murder, And Is Just Retribution
Number of words: 1316 - Number of pages: 5.... should be
punished for their crimes, and that it does not matter whether it will deter the
crime rate. Supporters of the death penalty are in favour of making examples
out of offenders, and that the threat of death will be enough to deter the crime
rate, but the crime rate is irrelevant.
According to Isaac Ehrlich's study, published on April 16, 1976, eight
murders are deterred for each execution that is carried out in the U.S.A. He
goes on to say, "If one execution of a guilty capital murderer deters the murder
of one innocent life, the execution is justified." To most supporters .....

Applied Litigation Research
Number of words: 3204 - Number of pages: 12.... is used less often, is to focus strategic themes and arguments for trial. Nonetheless, quantitative designs have been strongly criticized (Saks, 1976), in large part because they tend to fall short when used as the principle methodology to anticipate the essentially dynamic character of a trial.
The tactical environment of an ongoing trial is fluid. Quantitative methodologies appear to lack the requisite flexibility to grasp the changed meaning of issues as they emerge in the courtroom. In short, once a trial begins, pretrial quantitative research may be overtaken by unanticipated events. .....

Euthanasia
Number of words: 1048 - Number of pages: 4.... themselves as a disgrace, to those they love. According to recent researches and surveys, many Canadians would agree to this, but my question is, have they taken a close look at the ethical debate? Those who are against active would say not, and would argue that by participating in the practice of active , they are "playing God," or perhaps, that they are not acting out of mercy, therefore, the act is nothing less than cold-blooded murder. Murder by the law is defined as; "The unlawful, premeditated killing of one human being by another." , in Canada, remains unlawful as of today, and the a .....
