Belarusian Economy
Number of words: 595 - Number of pages: 3.... of the country accessible. Belarus has a reasonably well developed industry and a long history of agricultural development.
Problems for the economy of Belarus began to arise after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The weakness with Belarusian industry is two-fold. It has to import much of its raw materials from other nations and it imports most of its energy. As a result industry came under severe economic pressure shortly after independence. The problem with its agriculture is that it that about two thirds of the peasants are still organized into collective farms and the remainder in state .....

Legalization Of Marijuana
Number of words: 219 - Number of pages: 1.... drug
education in schools on the more grievously damaging drugs (heroin,
cocaine, LSD).
The only long term effects marijuana has on a person are the same as with
cigarettes. No one would dare prohibit the sale and possession of those,
and pot isn't treated with an array of chemicals. It's just picked, dried,
and smoked. Marijuana has similar short term effects as those of beer,
but more relaxing. Marijuana tends to mellow a person, while alcohol
might make someone violent. Plus alcohol contrivutes to brain and liver
damage.
I can not say that I completely advocate the recreation .....

Gun Control
Number of words: 526 - Number of pages: 2.... penalize law-abiding citizens while in no way preventing criminal use of handguns. It is also argued that by making it difficult for guns to be bought and registered for the American public there is a threat to the personal safety of American families everywhere. However controlling the sale and distribution of firearms is necessary because of the homicide rate involving guns. In 1988 there were 9000 handgun related murders in America. Metropolitan centers and some suburban communities of America are setting new records for homicides by handguns. Larger Metropolitan centers have ten ti .....

Cannabis Hemp. . .Marijuana!
Number of words: 4498 - Number of pages: 17.... to the back burner of history forever.
In 1916, a U.S. Department of Agriculture bulletin predicted that once a
docortication and harvesting machine was developed, cannabis would again
become America's largest agricultural industry. Some 22 years later,
Popular Mechanics introduced a new generation of investors to just such a
device, (See the February 1989 issue of HIGH TIMES.) which brings us to
this next bit of history:
A PLAN TO SAVE OUR FOREST
Some canniabis plant strains regularly reach treelike heights of 20 feet
or more in one growing season.
In 1916, th .....

Attacks On The Insanity Defense
Number of words: 3680 - Number of pages: 14.... others which will be mentioned later, lead
us to the conclusion that the insanity defense is useless and should be
abolished entirely. Insanity is a legal, not a medical definition.
Therefore, mental illness and insanity are not synonymous: only some mental
illness constitutes insanity. Insanity, however, includes not only mental
illness but also mental deficiencies. Due to this, there are problems in
exactly how to apply a medical theory to a legal matter (Herman, 1983;128).
The legal concepts of mental illness and insanity raise questions in a
conflict between what are termed legalistic c .....

Capital Punishment
Number of words: 4067 - Number of pages: 15.... the growing sympathy of modern society, the number of inmates actually put to death is substantially lower than 50 years ago. This fact that it was more safe back then than it is now probably has to due with the fact that in earlier times, where was common, the value of life was less, and societies were more barbaric, was probably quite acceptable. However, in today's society, which is becoming ever more increasingly humane, and individual rights and due process of justice are held in high accord, the death penalty is becoming an unrealistic form of punishment. Also, with the ever present p .....

Make Drugs Legal
Number of words: 780 - Number of pages: 3.... the quality would be assured, containing no poisons or adulterants. Sterile hypodermic needles will be readily available at corner drug stores. These could be taxed heavily because the users will be assured of "clean drugs." Making drugs legal will reduce the great amounts of money spent on enforcement every year. Drug dealers and users are one step ahead on the enforcement process. If one drug lord is caught, another one will show up somewhere else. We cannot win. “In 1987, 10 billion dollars were spent alone just on enforcing drug laws. Drugs accounted for about 40 percent of all felony .....

Jerry Falwell Vs. Hustler Magazine
Number of words: 335 - Number of pages: 2.... First Amendment. The court ruled that the issue was
whether or not that opinion was outrageous enough to be considered an
intentional infliction of emotional distress and awarded Falwell money.
This case then went to the U.S. Supreme Court where they decided that
because Falwell is a public figure for the purposes of the First Amendment
law, he couldn't sue for intentional infliction of emotional distress by “
outrageous” conduct and therefore the Court of Appeals' decision was
reversed.
Today, this case is still significant and cited because it gave a new
outlook on the First Amend .....

Welfare Reformation
Number of words: 1340 - Number of pages: 5.... In order to succeed at rising employment rates, current wages have to increase dramatically. A welfare check ranges form $5.53 to $17.50 an hour; in a like manner, minimum wage is less than an hourly welfare check (Tilly 8). People desire the higher money of a welfare check to that of a low-paying job (Tweedie 117; Tanner 18). This dependency on receiving the check causes many problems not just with the current generation, but future generations will also be similarly affected. These children are acquiring the habits of their parent or parents, thus creating a permanent underclass (Tuc .....
