The Beatles
Number of words: 1296 - Number of pages: 5.... on their albums. Together with Paul, John began
to evolve the band. As the years began to pass, the band was obviously
beginning to grow musically. They had moved from simple lyrics like "Love me Do"
to harshly aware reflections of life in their home country in "Eleanor Rigby"2.
There were attempts, some more successful than others, to incorporate the
other Beatles into the idea stage. George Harrison made this leap successfully
with such tracks as "I want to tell you", "TAXMAN", and the psychedelic "Love
you to". Ringo was featured in the humorous "Yellow Submarine

The Phonograph
Number of words: 1562 - Number of pages: 6.... to an electronic amplifier and then to one or more loudspeakers.
The first practical phonograph was built by the American inventor Thomas Edison in 1877. Edison recorded sound on a cylinder, which was then rotated against a needle. The needle moved up and down in the grooves of the cylinder, producing vibrations that were amplified by a conical horn. Because of the vertical movement of the needle, this recording method was called the "hill-and-dale" process.
Edison had intended the phonograph to be used primarily as a dictating machine in offices. However, with the invention of the flat-disk .....

A Cappella? Is That How You Spell It?
Number of words: 1180 - Number of pages: 5.... used in Italian Catholic churches, where Latin was the
language for sacred text. Thus, the Latin spelling for 'in the style of the
chapel' - a capella - has some historical basis. However, most other
musical terms - forte, accelerando, and many others - are Italian in origin.
Since the Italian spelling is more consistent with other musical terms, it
has been used more frequently.
Given the difficulty of spelling our favorite style of music, we'd like to
endorse the simplicity of a single spelling:
a cappella - two words, two "p's", two "l's." .....

Song Review: “Iris”
Number of words: 387 - Number of pages: 2.... or future, just the present
time he spends with her. I’m convinced that this guy is really in love
with her. This song is so moving it makes you believe that this really is
in love with the girl.
With this love, there is tragedy. “And you can’t fight the tears
that ain’t coming, or the moment of truth in your lies.” This line is the
saddest part of the whole song. The reality of the two not being able to
be together suddenly hits. For reasons unknown, they can not be together,
and this is the worst possible thing that can happen to two people who are
in love. This is the par .....

The Emergence Of Heavy Metal
Number of words: 669 - Number of pages: 3.... the effects of the music being produced, both by Jimi, and other acts relied heavily on the use of volume as a musical component. Most bands of the 70's would hold true to the mantra and turn their amplifiers to the symbolic ten.
Lyrical messages were also changing. The main themes of sixties music were peace and unity, the 70's brought a loud cynicism, songs became darker, and more atmospheric in nature. Early heavy metal was produced as a direct descendent of the musical experimentations in sheer volume of the 60's psychedelic guitar "noise." In the same way the Stones turned R & B i .....
