Term Papers on Social Issues |
Performance Of Employees
Number of words: 1671 - Number of pages: 7.... of hierarchy. Motivation exists for money because money satisfies these basic needs. Because of this money is a good overall motivator, but its main role is to induce people to do the work for which they were initially hired. According to management theorist Frederick Herzberg, fair salaries are considered a 'hygiene' factor of the workplace (Neslon, 1996). Other 'hygiene' factors include adequate workspace, temperature control, and office equipment (Nelson, 1996). These factors provide the means for employees to do their jobs, but not the best job possible. The extra effort stems from .....

Mass Media, Sex, And Pornography
Number of words: 2705 - Number of pages: 10.... influenced, specifically, by these images of pornography and
the result is increased violence against women. This assumption, and it is
indeed only an assumption, is completely fallacious, however, as no
concrete and completely conclusive evidence has ever been formulated in
support of the theory. The key premise here is that the mass media does
not cause undesirable social behaviour and in actuality, the media people
should not be dubbed as the “bad guys”. They simply use their power in
the most constructive ways possible in order to promote their ratings and
popularity. One wa .....

Racism
Number of words: 578 - Number of pages: 3.... to help construct what we know as Racism.
Racism has become one of the many burdens amongst multi-cultural
worlds like Canada and the States. Racism is a part of each and every one
of us. No doubt, we are all racist, but this the term racism has been used
too loosely. Racism has been mutated to such an extent that it could be a
reason for war, a symbol of terrorism, and even an excuse for neglecting.
Is that all there is to it? No, actually it is just the beginning. Racism
is just like warfare in which there is no shelter and nobody is neutral.
Nobody is exempt from this demon. H .....

Why Everyone Should Have Different Rights
Number of words: 318 - Number of pages: 2.... some do not. There
possession should be searched through on a regular basis.
Illegal Aliens are a big problem in the United States at the time being.
If they do stay they should pay taxes like the average citizen. And should not
be able to draw welfare. The laws restricting illegal immigrants should be
enforced. And all illegals that do not pay taxes should be sent back to their
place of origin.
There are many types of people and should be many types of laws and
ultimatly rights. This paper has only discussed three types of people there
are hundreds more. Let the people of t .....

Christmas, Retailers, And The Santa Claus Conspiracy
Number of words: 975 - Number of pages: 4.... is one of the scariest I've come across
and yet we embrace it. The entire story sounds like something you should
threaten your kid with if he doesn't want to eat his veggies. As I understand
it he's supposed to be a fat man wearing red underwear who is capable of sliding
down your chimney unharmed in order to quietly slip into your house while you're
sleeping. If he really existed I'd be sitting up with a loaded shotgun every
Christmas Eve, not dreaming of gifts while this lunatic could be slicing the
throats of everyone in my house! And to add to the horror he is said to use
"elves" to m .....

Affirmative Action: Will It Every Work Right?
Number of words: 1526 - Number of pages: 6.... the number of minorities that they employ. He wanted to ensure that minorities are recruited to have real opportunities to be hared and then eventually get a promotion.
In 1969, the Department of Labor exposed widespread racial discrimination of the Construction Department so President Richard M. Nixon decided to incorporate a system of "goals and timetables" to evaluate federal construction companies according to affirmative action. This idea of "goals and timetables" provided guidelines for companies to follow and comply with affirmative action regulations.
During the presidency of Gera .....

Gangs In Today's Cities
Number of words: 1529 - Number of pages: 6.... s/he could make $200 to
$400 for small part time gang jobs. Although these are important factors
they are not strong enough to make kids do things that are strongly against
their morals.
One of the ways that kids morals are bent so that gang violence becomes
more acceptable is the influence of television and movies. The average
child spends more time at a TV than she/he spends in a classroom. Since
nobody can completely turn off their minds, kids must be learning something
while watching the TV. Very few hours of television watched by children
are educational, so other ideas are b .....

My Own Micro Culture
Number of words: 1058 - Number of pages: 4.... Unlike Americans the Latin women lives in a country that need not worry of preditorial men. Do to the bright colors, An American may think that a woman is trying to get noticed. sees both bright clothes and reveling attire and assumes the girl is a tramp. Accusations By The Media
Number of words: 415 - Number of pages: 2.... on the persona of the "older brother" with regards to how the media mediated this event was wrong in my eyes. By "older brother" persona I mean that they bullied us into believing what they believed. First we were supposed to be angry and horrified that something like this could happen in such a small town. Then we kind of felt sorry that these two young gentlemen were almost driven to do this because of the years of social abuse they endured all throughout highschool. And finally, in what I find the most sickening part of all, the media turned and pointed its finger at the parents of .....
