Costs And Contributions: The Wave From South Of The Border
Number of words: 991 - Number of pages: 4.... rapidly to
that of natives, e.g., they rapidly abandon buses and drive cars to work. In
southern CA, one-third of all bus riders are recent immigrants.
Myers noted that immigration is raising other issues, including
overcrowded housing. The US definition of acceptable housing was two or less
persons per room until 1960, when the definition was change to one or less per
room. However, as immigrants
moved into southern CA, overcrowding jumped, raising questions about how
aggressively cities should enforce housing codes developed during a non-
immigrant era." Many are haunted .....

America And The Camel
Number of words: 706 - Number of pages: 3.... of the next decade the Cleveland Indians drew over 2.5 million fans, the largest ever for a single season. The Camel company goes on to use a celebrity to sell their product. This is one aspect in history that we still see today. The employment of famous athletes to promote the sale of products is as big today, if not bigger, as it was in 1934. Today we see athletes such as Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’neal promoting such products as athletic equipment to batteries. Back then, as well as today companies knew that consumers would purchase items that were promoted by athletes more than .....

Put The Homeless To Work
Number of words: 1216 - Number of pages: 5.... around 7-11 stores or any
grocery stores and supermarkets. Some are out there to clean your car or
just your windshield so they could get something in return for their
efforts even though they only get your car more dirty.
As I said before, most of the homeless that we have today put up
signs that say "will work for food." Most of them really want to work in
order to get some money for food and stay alive. So, why don't we give it
to them. We have a hard time keeping San Diego clean so maybe it's time
to get some assistance from the homeless. Will it be easy to put them to
work .....

Mothers And Daughters Relationships
Number of words: 700 - Number of pages: 3.... family has an open relationship where they can speak about anything, while the Chinese family has a closed relationship, where the elders must be respected at all times. However, the daughters in the stories have a similarity.
Culture plays an important aspect in revealing the relationships within a family. In Maara Haas’s short story, the culture of the daughter and mother is Ukrainian. This is shown throughout the story by cultural beliefs, customs, and comments made by the mother “Me Ukrainian off da boat” (Haas, 201). In the other story by Anne Jew, the mother and daughter a .....

The Pressure To Be Perfect
Number of words: 718 - Number of pages: 3.... remote control. It use to be that you would
at least burn some calories by having to get up and turn the channel on the
television, but thanks to technology it is now a push of a button. Just think,
things have the possibility to grow increasingly worse because of the
'information super highway'. There is no need to get out and walk the malls in
search of a particular item or gift. With the use of the 'super highway' you
just need a credit card and the item is delivered to your doorstep. Can
technology be causing more harm than good?
One of the most disheartening facts is that there are .....

The Effect Of Viewing Television Violence On Childhood Aggression
Number of words: 2045 - Number of pages: 8.... adapt our television shows accordingly.
Early 1960's Research
There is earlier research, but the first association between violent television
and aggression was in the early 1960's when Albert Bandura began researching his
modeling theory. His series of experiments first set the precedent for a
relationship between violent television viewing and aggression. He felt
children would model or imitate adult behavior. In one study he subjected
children to both aggressive and non- aggressive adult models and then tested
them for imitative behavior in the presence of the model. His theory wa .....

Slavery - Causes
Number of words: 642 - Number of pages: 3.... by harsh conditions. The
immigration of servents thus declined, becuase of the people in England
being informed of the harsh treatment in the colonies. The society was
where the land was easy to find, while the labor was most scarce.
Indentured servitude, was a form of labor which was declining, and the need
for labor increased rapidly.
In the 1600's, when tobacco was founded by John Rolfe, tobacco became
the main source of income for most of the colonists. The economic
prosperity of the colonies was primarily dependent on the amount of tobacco
produced. The growing of tobacco, needed .....

The Family Is A Social Institution
Number of words: 534 - Number of pages: 2.... to. Our society has moved away from the traditional nuclear families towards extended families, blended families, childless marriages, single parents etc. The key word now is variety where multi-generation households are making a comeback.
My views on family and marriage have remained more or less the same since early childhood. Indian marriage as it stands today is a very old institution. To outsiders it seems strange if not outright absurd sometimes. To some degree it can be both of things however to a large extent it has preserved the ages due to its basic principles.

Homosexuality
Number of words: 1847 - Number of pages: 7.... "" is very poorly defined. Our use of this one term creates the false impression of a uniform "gay" or "lesbian" condition and culture. It obscures the reality that what we are studying is a complex set of variable mental, emotional, and behavioral states that are caused by differing proportions of numerous influences. Indeed, one of the chief characteristics of the gay lifestyle is its efflorescence of styles and types of sexuality. Thus many of the more careful researchers in the field, usually nonactivist, refer to ''homosexucll~ties.''
The belief that is "genetic" tends to trans .....
