Jude The Obscure: Summary
Jude the Obscure is a book in which alienation plays a key factor in Jude’s life. Examples of such alienation are Arabella’s leaving Jude, the Schoolmaster’s leaving Jude, and Sue’s relationship with Jude.
Jude married Arabella because she is supposed, or pretended to be pregnant but their marriage was not a success. Arabella then left Jude to go to Australia with her father. The Schoolmaster left Jude, when Jude was a little boy, to get a university degree. Sue had an odd relationship with Jude; sometimes she loved him and sometimes she "could not care less" about ....
