Descartes in his first meditation uses the first meditation uses the evil genius argument; no doubt to bring us to question whether good is really good and not an evil genius. This argument seems to me to be very effective at stirring questions, which can never really be confirmed. Even if God were to appear out of the blue sky, in light of Descartes' argument, it could just be an elusive dream to deceive our senses. There could be an evil genius behind the apparition. As Descartes states, even the sky itself, along with the Earth, air, colors and shapes could be dreams us ....
