Producing Steel
Purifying pig iron produces steel, to get rid of the many impurities during smelting. I am going to explain how this is done, and the uses of steel produced in four furnaces.
BASSEMER CONVERTER
This was made in England. Molten pig iron was change to steel when air was blown through it after it was remove from the furnace. Henry Bessemer demonstrated that the air blast burned the carbon and silicon out of the pig iron releasing heat and cousing the temperature of the metal to rise.
