I found the character of the mother Amanda Wingfield really quite
annoying to listen to after a few moments of hearing her. It brought back
many memories of my ex-husband’s mother. She was just as much a nag as
Amanda. A person could never sit down at the dinner table without her
yelling at someone to get his or her elbows off the table, or chew with
one’s mouth close. Like in Scene 1, where amanda asks Tom to come to the
