Down With Community Service
Number of words: 464 - Number of pages: 2.... few
days, and I have come up with some interesting results. It seems that
eight out of ten students that are about to graduate high school are
planning to go to college after they graduate. I also asked them about
doing community service. Most of them said that they would be getting a
job, and they would not have time to do community service. My survey has
brought me to the conclusion that students who are thinking about going to
college should not be thinking about doing two years of community service.
Community service is detrimental to college students. I was
talking on the phone wi .....

Personal Writing: Life In Junior High
Number of words: 752 - Number of pages: 3.... been so far away from my friends. That year, nevertheless, still
saw me pass with a 3.5 grade point average. Still, something was missing.
My best friends were all gone. While they were busy enjoying high
school together, by contrast, it was hard for me to make friends. I was so
caught up at leaving my old friends that being sociable seemed non-existent.
I was insecure. While students were talking about their summer vacation
in class, I had my head down on the table. I had nothing to talk about.
Moreover, I was afraid that I could not “hang” with them.
The high school image was .....

Personal Writing: The Sightless Explanation
Number of words: 1476 - Number of pages: 6.... just occurred.
I had little experience with what I was observing at Miss Singleton's house. It was difficult to view an elderly person living by herself with nobody to help her out. My family and I voluntarily felt inclined to donate our time to making her life easier when we saw she had nobody to care for her. She always had a caretaker that would help her with her daily tasks that she would pay lots of money to each day. I was skeptical the first time she asked me to stay with her, because of school, but I decided I would do it to be charitable. I would go over there at 6:30 each evening .....

What I Would Place In A Time Capsule
Number of words: 551 - Number of pages: 3.... give an in depth
prospective on people and their lives.
Guiding the new information and technology of today, computers
serve as the most useful tool for teaching and productivity across the
globe. With the aid of computers, new and better systems are manufactured
and put to work constantly. The amount of data storage, speed, and
processing power is increasing exponentially, and the obsolete models are
taken off shelves and out of business to be replaced. Within the next ten
years alone, computers will have evolved to what most of us can't even
perceive now. By placing a top of the line co .....

The Mountain Of Death
Number of words: 729 - Number of pages: 3.... problem. Each step came with ease and grace. The view around was beautiful. It was unlike anyone could ever imagine. When the group got to only the tenth switch-back they all looked about and could see the beauty of the valley floor and where they had just started out that day. It looked like a little green dot painted into the valley floor by an artist and his brush. I did not realize how hard it would be until the middle of the mountain.
Through the middle of the mountain each step was a challenge. I could feel the rocks slip out from under me and the hot sun beating on the should .....

My Vacation In Acapulco Mexico
Number of words: 1091 - Number of pages: 4.... a story of a hunter and his prey. It was narrated by a woman who was also in costume. Brightly dressed Mexican men were beating drums and banging sticks providing the sound effects for the story. This was truly a great beginning to a wonderful afternoon. Behind the restaurant was a low mountainous area, accessible by walking trails only. We hiked one of these trails, observing the brightly colored tropical plants and trees that flourished on this well maintained terrain. A beautiful waterfall added to the splendor, and when we reached the top, a lookout provided a panoramic view of the enti .....

My Friend's Battle With Anorexia
Number of words: 1202 - Number of pages: 5.... about her latest fight with her on again off again boyfriend. She was always the center of attention, and made no effort to ever hide her emotions or problems. Overall, Laura had a great personality and always knew how to cheer any one of us up. All of this began to change after our best friend Lauren confessed that she had an eating disorder.
This news surprised us all. Lauren was really skinny, but so was her entire family. She always ate a lot, so we never suspected a problem. It made us all really upset, but Laura seemed to have a different view of Lauren's problem. I don't know .....

Personal Writing: The Relay Race
Number of words: 475 - Number of pages: 2.... a monster. My mind shouted at me.
'Drop and Die.'
I looked forward again. I could see my way clearly.
It was short distance to go, but it seemed the finishing line was miles
away from me. I opened my eyes with a fierce glare and I decided to run to
death. Every thing looked different from a second ago. I knew my team was
about to be the victor.
"GO!"
The second runner shouted. I darted forth. I put my hand back. I felt the
monster in my hand. I grabbed it as hard as I could and then I accelerated.
The monster, in my hand, was satisfied with his new environment. My legs
and a .....

The Immortal Harley Rider
Number of words: 1219 - Number of pages: 5.... relentlessly toward disaster, even though my right boot stomped hard on the rear brake. The bike fishtailed back and forth as I sought a path around the car – I first veered toward the ditch and then to the opposing lane, but a station wagon was already filling the gap and heading my way and the barb-wire fence and deep ditch barred that route. I laid my gallant monster on its left side and the asphalt screamed in protest and agony as my metallic beast dug furrows into its tough skin (or was that me screaming?).
A giant, unseen hand must have been vicariously toying with the hands of time, .....
