Macbeth 6
Number of words: 461 - Number of pages: 2.... escapes. Macbeth was willing to kill his own friend just so he may remain king (The witches said Banquo's sons would be kings, and Macbeth didnt like that). To boot, Macbeth sends assassins to kill Macduffs family. By the end of the play, Macbeth is a ruthless, honorless king, and gets killed by Macduff. Macbeth's good side was shown for a little bit in the begining of the play, but that quickly changes and Macbeth becomes evil.

Richard II
Number of words: 621 - Number of pages: 3.... " ... To safeguard thine own life / The best way is to venge my Gloucester's death." (I, ii, 35-36)
Richard could have allowed Bolingbroke and Mowbray to fight to the death, but if he had allowed this and if Bolingbroke had won, Richard's full part in the murder could be exposed. On the other hand, if Mowbray had won, Richard would be in debt to him even more so than he already was. The only other option was to exile both Bolingbroke and Mowbray, stopping both from exposing Richard's part in the murder.
Richard chooses at first to allow them to fight to the death "... Your lives will .....

His knowledge of the sea, the many languages he speaks, and the education he has given his men all contribute the success of his ship’s goal, to explore. Examples of his intelligence are rampant throughout the novel. In a burial at sea the captain decided to envelop the body, not only in a coral reef, but also in byssus to seal it for eternity and protect it from sharks. The uncommon understanding of the effects of byssus, or other plant life, demonstrates his depth of research. Using one’s intellect to benefit practical concerns instills admiration and confidence .....

Of Mice And Men
Number of words: 1593 - Number of pages: 6.... of an extraordinarily immoral and cruel man.
Whatever Steinbeck’s intent for writing such a jarring ending, he leaves the reader with a
powerful sense of the world’s immorality.
In this book there were several characters, but only a few had significant roles. I
would have to say Lennie is the protagonist of the book even though George is an
extremely critical character as well. Lennie Small is described as being a monstrous man
with the mind of a child, a shapeless face, big pale eyes, sloping shoulders, and big feet
that dragged a bit when he .....

Number of words: 3076 - Number of pages: 12.... desperate haste to succeed, and in such desperate enterprises? If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” Thoreau always did march to a different drummer. “The Con-cord community, already scandalized by Thoreau’s unconven-tional way of life, ridiculed his lack of ambition and material success. However, Thoreau flourished with Emerson as his mentor. He kept an extensive journal and became an avid reader of Hindu scripture.” (Twentieth p346) Gandhi would .....

The Raven Symbolism

Another symbol is the Pallas. In the whole room the raven decides to perch on the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, why? Could he be trying to lead us to believe that the raven speaks from wisdom? Or was Poe just using a word only some could interpret?
Also why does Poe use midnight and December for the time the story takes place? I figure midnight and December both represent an end to .....

Collective Unconscious In Haml
Number of words: 1403 - Number of pages: 6.... theory, it appears that they pre-date Jung by three hundred years. I will provide proof of this hypothesis through parallels between Jung’s work and the play.
Carl Jung believed that the structure of the human psyche is comprised of three main parts: the conscious, personal unconscious and the collective unconscious (refer to figure 1). The conscious is basically the function or activity which maintains the relation of psychic contents with the ego or one’s state of awareness. Personal unconscious consists of experiences or memories that can be recalled by an individual, either thr .....

Women of the late eighteenth-century could not attend educational institutions like Oxford or Cambridge. It was not considered necessary for a woman to have knowledge of either Greek or Latin. If a woman received training, it was usually religious or domestically practical. The expected accomplishments of a woma .....
