“Fanthorpe’s Poetry Stimulates The Reader To See People And Things In A New Light”
Number of words: 1536 - Number of pages: 6.... staff presented in this light, as no doubt it is quite true that people who work in hospitals have the same traits that the rest of us have. But we prefer to see people who are in charge of our health, our recovery or our lives even, as better and stronger than that. The title “Patients” has two sets of values. It is referring to the general patients of the hospital and also it is saying that everyone in the hospital is in fact a patient, including the staff.
The poem BC:AD is like its title, a short, snappy poem. It presents an unconventional way of looking at the birth of Christ. .....

Analysis Of "13 Ways Of Looking At A Blackbird"
Number of words: 571 - Number of pages: 3.... there are three blackbirds.”
This was the first time he makes the connection between seeing the
blackbird and him himself metaphorically being the blackbird. He makes this
connection even more clear in the fourth stanza when he says that “A man
and a woman Are one. A man and a woman and a blackbird are one." In the
sixth stanza he goes back to being the poet observer as he watches the
blackbird fly by his icy window. Again in the next stanza he goes back to
the point of view of the blackbird wondering why the men of Haddam only
imagine golden birds instead of realizing the value of the .....

"Dover Beach" By Arnold: Irony, Images, And Illusions
Number of words: 476 - Number of pages: 2.... back, and fling,” is an example of images that appeal to the
visual sense. While “ Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land” and “With
tremulous cadence slow, and bring...” uses an auditory sense. “Come to the
window, sweet is the night air,” can apply to both senses. Sweet can mean
angelic or precious to qualify to be an visual image, or it can mean almost like
a melodious tune.
Illusions are used in this poem as deception for the girl that the man
is trying to hold a non-romantic conversation with. A theory is portrayed in
this poem by Plato, the world is an illusio .....

Analysis Of Bryant's "Thanatopsis"
Number of words: 570 - Number of pages: 3.... This connection
between death and sleep creates an intriguing metaphor which adds depth and
meaning to the poem.
By using this strange metaphor I believe Bryant wishes to suggest
his faith in an afterlife. While examining the differences and
similarities of death and sleep the reader is left with some very thought
provoking questions. The answers to these questions reassure some readers
while confusing others. Sleep is a time of rest. It allows preparation
for the next day or event, and by relating this definition to death Bryant
gives new insight on one's fate after earthly exist .....

Home Burial: Analysis
Number of words: 634 - Number of pages: 3.... by the great loss that they have endured. Later on in the poem the husband begins to talk again, stating: “We could have some arrangement, By which I’d bind myself to keep hands off, Anything special you’re a-mind to name. Though I don’t like such things ‘’twixt those that love. Two that don’t love can’t live together without them. But two can not live together with them.”
Right here he is saying that he should have just stopped having children with her. That people can not live with nor without sex. He’s eluding to the fact that in order for the children to be made i .....

Number of words: 746 - Number of pages: 3.... in all capital letters or
all lower case letters and never mixes them. This creates a style that she is
personally known for. It sets her apart from other writers and makes her work
original. None of the characters have names or any type of identity except for
the color of their clothes. When the piece is done on stage the characters are
never introduced they are just eventually recognized by the color of their
dresses. This makes it a little difficult to follow for the reader or spectator
at first but after the work is under way each individual may find they relate to
a certain color and beg .....

The Point Of View In "Porphyria's Lover"
Number of words: 1386 - Number of pages: 6.... the speaker's cottage, she is dripping wet.
The speaker makes it an important point to describe her after her arrival. The
description of the articles of clothing that Porphyria is wearing helps the
reader know that Porphyria is from an upper-class family. She was wearing a
cloak and shawl, a hat, and gloves. It is apparent that the speaker works for
Porphyria's family. He lives in a cottage, somewhat distant from the main house.
The cottage is cold until Porphyria warms up the room with her presence and by
stirring up the fire. The way the speaker introduces Porphyria is very unique.

A Review Of A Shakespearean Sonnet
Number of words: 628 - Number of pages: 3.... parts, the first
being the problem and the second part being an answer. The theme that
Shakespeare has chosen is love and this theme works well with the sonnet
format. The first half of this sonnet is written about how the subject is
like a summer's day, for example: "Thou art more lovely and more
temperate:" (line 2) and after line eight, Shakespeare concludes that the
subject cannot be a summer's day because they are more beautiful and will
last longer than summer itself. The sonnet form is suitable for this theme
because it allows the direct comparison of the subject to a summer' .....

T.S. Eliot's "The Wasted Land"
Number of words: 1478 - Number of pages: 6.... from people and the world, isolationism, and the feeling that
they were failing to articulate their thoughts (Bergonzi 7, 50, Cuddy 30,
Mack 1743, Martin 41, Unger 8) .
Henry James influence on Eliot's poetry is evident in the Jamesian
qualities he uses. For example, the opening verse of The Waste Land ends
with the Jamesian note, "I read, much of the night, and go south in the
winter" (Mack, 1751). Although Lafourge, Conrad, and James were used as
sources for Eliot when he composed poetry, there is still a distinct
Eliotic quality whenever his work is read (Bergonzi 7 .....

Frost's "Desert Places" And "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening"
Number of words: 1329 - Number of pages: 5.... snow is a white blanket that covers up everything living. The blankness symbolizes the emptiness that the speaker feels. To him there is nothing else around except for the unfeeling snow and his lonely thoughts.
The speaker in this poem is jealous of the woods. "The woods around it have it - it is theirs." The woods symbolize people and society. They have something that belongs to them, something to feel a part of. The woods has its place in nature and it is also a part of a bigger picture. The speaker is so alone inside that he feels that he is not a part of anything. Nature has a wa .....
