.... of Thorins' ancestors is guarded by Smaug. The quest begins and the party meets at the Green Dragon Inn. From there they venture into the Lone-lands. As heavy rains begin to fall, Biblo notices that Gandalf is missing. When it starts to pour they stop to investigate a light. Their Biblo finds three trolls grumbling about food. Biblo decides to live up to title of burglar and attempts to pick one of the trolls' pockets. However they quickly capture him. The dwarfs see what's going on and try to save Biblo but all of them except Thorin are caught. Thorin formulates a plan to free them but fai .....

.... the end. As the end draws to a close the reader is left with a mixture of feelings from pity to happiness. This is the result of traditional tail, it is intertwined with common feelings and situations to which all can identify with that all are affected by the story. In the beginning the situation is introduced to the reader by a narrator recounting the story from a childhood experience. It is known quite quickly in the story that the home in which the story takes place is very empty of feelings as is expressed by the narrator say “it was not happy” instead of “it was sad” beca .....

.... innocent. Even though Gillespie didn’t like to be proven wrong by anyone (none less a Negro) he respected Virgil for his great detective work. At one point in the novel Gillespie and Tibbs shake hands and I think that was the high point of this mutual respect. Virgil didn’t respect Gillespie that much in the beginning and most of the middle of this story but in the end Virgil respected Gillespie. I think it was good that Virgil did not respect Gillespie because Gillespie was using Virgil for his scapegoat. At the end of this story Gillespie finally showed everyone that he respecte .....

.... a few years later, by the name of Homer Barron. The two would ride down the street on Sundays in a buggy. The town hoped that this would be Emily’s opportunity to wed. Time passed, and the town no longer saw Homer come around any more. The last time the town saw Homer, he had gone into Emily’s home through the kitchen door for supper. Never the less, it finally came time for Emily to pay taxes. The older town people from her father’s generation were all gone, and her family’s reputation had no merit with the newer generation of authorities. These authorities star .....

Because if they had came with a good human nature then how would there have been a beast which Golding classified as the basic evil inside all of us. He only cares about what people think of him, not real issues. Ibsen also shows that people are narrow-minded. Nora even points this out to Tovrald when he is condemning Krogstad for one mistake. Mr. Manders is very narrow-minded in the way he thinks society should be. He has a very cut and dry outlook on the way life should be lived. He looks down upon people he believes are sinners because they live a different way of life. T .....

During a bloody battle, 120 of the men in Paul's unit were killed. Paul was given leave and returned home only to find himself very distant from his family as a result of the war. He left in agony knowing that his youth was lost forever. Before returning to his unit, Paul spent a little while at a military camp where he viewed a Russian prisoner of war camp with severe starvation problems and again questioned the values that he had gro .....

.... and drink. He realizes he may be out at sea for a long time, so he rationalizes his supplies. Santiago copes with what he has. The sail on his boat is torn and tattered, consisting of countless rags stitched together. Although a nicer sail would have been nice he knew that he could get by with the one he has. Santiago displayed a great deal of grace while under the pressure of catching his great adversary. While battling the marlin he always keeps his eye on the goal, and figures out new ways to get through the tight spots. Even when it seem that all hope is lost, he continues to persevere, .....

.... of a new, cruel life for Buck. On his ride to wherever he was going, Buck's pride was severely damaged, if not completely wiped out by men who used tools to restrain him. No matter how many times Buck tried to lunge, he would just be choked into submission at the end. When Buck arrived at his destination, there was snow everywhere, not to mention the masses of Husky and wolf dogs. Buck was thrown into a pen with a man who had a club. This is where Buck would learn one of the two most important laws that a dog could know in the Klondike. The law of club is quite simple, if there is a man .....

.... tears show us just how much he misses it. In the duration of the story Odysseus has to make several sacrifices in order to get to the home he longs for so much. In Book 12, Circe foresees that Odysseus will have to let some of his men die. “The Ithacans set off. But Odysseus never reveals to them Circe’s last prophecy – that he will be the only survivor…” This shows how much he’s willing to do and sacrifice in order to get home. There are many obstacles that stand in Odysseus’s way of getting home. Some of the obstacles included the Lotus-Eaters, Cy .....
