.... views, mythological, biblical, literal and metaphorically. The snake represents all the twists and turns and being able to find one's inner-self is very difficult and twisted. The snake represents some of the animal imagery in the novel. Perhaps this is a sign that the jungle is something living and not just an ordinary jungle. Literature's imagery helps to show the main idea through a picture painted in one's mind. Imagery is very insightful and in Conrad's novel there is a lot of animal and hell imagery that branches together to form the main theme of the novel, the journey in finding .....

.... words, this section of the book appears to be a jumbled mess of sounds and senses at first glance. However, this section can be "translated" to make some kind of sense. Once this happens, the story does make sense and does serve a purpose. The main conflict of the story revolves around Caddy's promiscuity. Each character takes some position regarding this fact. Benjy, as retarded as he is, is the only one capable of telling an unbiased version of the story. Because he cannot think rationally enough to decide a position on the matter, he can give some sense of neutrality to the situati .....

.... two brothers all at the same time. Later in the conversation the reader learns that Antigone has a plan to bury here brother Polynices and that she wants Ismene to help her. Ismene is scared to do this because the new king, Creon, has issued a decree that says that any person that attempts to bury the body will be sentenced to death. The fact that Antigone is going to attempt to bury the body creates fear in the reader. They are fearful as to what will happen to Antigone if she is caught. As the play moves on there is a building of this fear and pity that is felt for many of the charact .....

.... to be Danny. That's the obvious choice. He's the main character and he's pretty easy to talk about. Danny is not that interesting, it's just that all of the other characters are really boring. One thing that I thought was interesting is how Danny was quite a drinker. He got drunk a lot. And he ended up. . . whoops! Almost slipped you the ending. Anyway, Danny was also the character that gave all of the other characters their shelter. That's the only character in the book I found faintly interesting. The most exciting part of this book was finishing it. Woohoo! Gosh, I felt .....

.... but still decided to drive the others home from the bar. On the way home, Bruce began arguing with Ray, (the only sober one), and the car was steered of the road into a tree. Raymond was killed by the accident. However, everyone thought that Bruce was not intoxcated at the time, and the car just accidentally swerved off to the side. Throughout the next chapters, Bruce keeps facing the guilt of killing Ray, and tries to admit to everyone that he did. No one believes him though, and think's he's just making up the story to cover the guilt up. This carrries on for a while, and Bruce .....

Maybe Augustine has the wrong idea about love. Love is when you care deeply about someone and will do anything for them. Thinking about sexual desires and physical attractions are defining lustful ideas. Is Augustine talking about different kinds of love? The government itself was very mysterious and had several parts that were very suspicious to the main character, Winston, who worked in one part of the government. It was divided up into four parts. The Ministry of Truth, where Winston worked, was incharge of education and the arts. The Ministry of Peace, which was in command of war. The Ministry of plenty, which controlled economic affairs. And finally the Ministr .....

.... a hostile environment.  His body destroyed but his spirit is not broken.  The method used to develop the theme of the novel is through the use of symbolism. There are several uses of symbols in the novel from the turtle at the beginning to the rain at the end.   As each symbol is presented through the novel they show examples of the good and the bad things that exist within the novel. The opening chapter paints a vivid picture of the situation facing the drought-stricken farmers of Oklahoma. Dust is described a covering everything, smothering the life out of anything that wan .....
