Tom's actions depict the kind of man he truly was, not one to rape and beat a helpless teenager, but one to conduct himself as a civilized human being. I strongly feel that this is a remedy that Harper Lee offers on the subject of dealing with everyday injustice. Instead of getting angry when someone puts us down, we should react by laughing along with the person or even just walki ng away. The area of the Prologue that talks about the Pardoner describes him as a man with “hair as yellow as wax, Hangling down smoothly like a hank of flax.” The Pardoner had a beautiful singing voice, which he used to his advantage by singing loud and merrily in order to get more money from the people. The Pardoner tells the tale of three young men drinking at an inn. After learning that someone named Death has killed a friend, the three men decide to find Death and get revenge for their friend. .... the features of the prostitute with a particular contempt, yet he continued to look, even leer at her. He continued to think about what went on behind the closed doors, the men that waited around outside the house "smoking, chewing tobacco and spitting into the gutter - committing all the sins of the world according to the hermit." In fact, after the story unfolded, the hermit was so upset that he was "forced" to leave behind his shelter to look for a new place, thinking that he would rather not have a roof at all rather than live near the woman. The Arab had drawn his knife and held it up to Meursault, but this wasn't what bothered him, it was the light from the sun that shot off the Arabs knife, and the intense heat along with the salt from his sweat in his eyes that was bothering him. Meursault shot the Arab mainly because he was uncomfortable and not because he felt threatened, but in any case he made the decision to shoot him. In the next chapter Meursault can't understand why he would need an attorney for his case because it's simple to him, he had murdered a man and was now ready to pay the consequences. The author uses magical realism many times throughout the novel. When Cory and his friends do their annual ritual at the end of the summer, they pretend to fly with their dogs (pg. 187). They do this at the beginning of the summer because it shows the innocence and magic that they begin to lose. It also shows that they lose almost all of their responsibilities during the summer. .... a heroic situation is in chapter 9. Bilbo is very lucky when he is able to first escape the elves. He is again lucky when he is able to explore the elven palace at such great length. Yet another example of his luck is when extremely potent wine comes in barrels,and ends up putting the chief guard asleep who is in sole possession of the keys which can unlock all the dwarves prisons.
